BREAST MILK FOR PACKING ON MUSCLES: FACT OR FAD?

What is this sudden urge which forces us back to the cradle? The world of bodybuilding has come down to this: find a way to quickly gain mass; repeat, repeat and repeat. 2015 has been marked with a new addition to the world of body building; this addition has been around since the day we were all born – mother’s milk. Since bodybuilders are in a constant search of a new source of protein, carb or fat, this new fad is considered as a new game changer. But, is it really just a fad, or are there actually scientific facts supporting mother’s milk?

Many have spoken about the nectar of the Gods, but most people take it wrong. Yes, milk is indeed the “almighty” fluid, but only when it comes to babies. I guess grown up men came to an idea that drinking breast milk can further aid in body’s development, as it did in the early stages of life. That sounds like a great idea; however, it is nowhere near to being true, so it just remains a good idea never to be utilized.

Almost all bodybuilders are quite familiar with the benefits of whey protein , which is probably the best food supplements when it comes to building up mass, staying strong, increasing endurance, and other health benefits. Instead of using whey protein, bodybuilders wanted to try something new (and of a similar origin), and that is why some men started drinking breast milk. When the comparison is done between cow milk and breast milk, one can clearly see that breast milk gives only 2.5 grams of protein, 10.8 grams of fat, and 17 grams of carbs. Cow milk on the other hand gives 7.9 grams of protein, 7.9 grams of fat, and 11 grams of carbs. This is per one cup, and we can clearly see that cow milk is far better balanced for a macro nutrient intake.

The only difference is perhaps the higher carb rate, which provides a bit more energy, but that is pretty much it. Breast milk is also richer in calories, which is something that bodybuilders should pay attention to. For those who have problems digesting cow milk, goat milk can be a great substitution; which is probably even healthier than the cow milk, and has almost the same nutritional value as breast milk. Judging by these facts, is there really a necessity to turn towards breast milk?

What most people don’t know is that artificially produced breast milk leads to a number of diseases, including cancer. Also, all of the breast milk purchased online can’t be called reliable, since there have been cases of people getting Hepatitis B and C, and even HIV. Many studies have also shown that drinking breast milk doesn’t have any health benefits, if you are an adult. All of the athletes who have earned great success and who say that breast milk is the magical elixir which helped them on their way to glory are living in a lie, or are caught in a simple placebo effect. Unfortunately for them, science is still the most reliable source of information.

People all over the world should know that breast milk is specifically designed for babies to fit  their needs, and has all the necessary vitamins and nutrients which support their growth. Its intention is not to increase a grown person’s body mass, nor to help in any such cause. Don’t want to sound disappointing, but this just might be the failure of the year.  There is nothing left to say except that boys will be boys.
